St. Martin's Chess Club

We are happy to say that our school Chess Club is off to a great start this year. Chess club gives students the opportunity to engage in a fun, educational and challenging activity that will help them develop important life skills. In chess club, we are developing the children’s understanding of the basic rules and strategies of the game through mini games which then evolve into full practice matches where the children can apply what they learn in a supportive environment. The students will have the opportunity to represent the school at the Lá Ficheall chess tournament on the 13th of February next year. Chess club promotes strategic thinking, mathematical skills and more importantly social interactions and camaraderie with fellow students.
