SMDP Student Council

History in the making...A Student Council has been formed in St. Martin de Porres N.S. for the very first time!

Under the guidance of a team of staff members, as well as some fantastic returning officers from 6th class, elections were held on November 10th. Each class from Senior Infants to 6th class, took part in the nomination and election process. The children had great fun marking their own ballot paper and putting it into a ballot box. With great excitement in the (open) air, lots of drum rolling and a bit of nervous anticipation, the results were announced by the Acting Principal, Ms McMorrough on Thursday 11th November!! Each newly elected Student Council member was presented with a badge to wear on their uniform that day. No doubt they will wear it with pride :-)

The St Martin de Porres NS Student Council will meet regularly and will act as a platform to promote and develop pupil voice, leadership and creativity in our school. We can't wait to hear all of their wonderful ideas and contributions.
