Seachtain na Gaeilge 2025

One of the weeks we look forward to the most in the school calendar is Seachtain na Gaeilge! It is always such a fun week! Our Seachtain na Gaeilge committee organised a Féile, where each class had the opportunity to perform something as Gaeilge for the school, and a Céílí, where classes came to the hall and danced Ballaí Luimnigh (The Walls of Limerick) and Ionsaí na hInse (The Seige of Ennis) to Irish traditional music. Children were encouraged to use whatever Irish they had daily and were invited to enter a poster competition. Our week ended with Lá Glas to mark the end of Seachtain na Gaeilge and celebrate St. Patrick’s Day. We held a whole school assembly in the hall and awards were given for the poster competition and to children who had made a big effort to speak Irish during the week. It was wonderful to see a sea of green! Ms. Spollen’s and Mr. Kelly’s 5th Classes performed at assembly and we finished up by all singing our national anthem, Amhrán na bhFiann, together.
