Last year, we had begun the process of working towards achieving our very first Amber Flag. The Amber Flag is an initiative run by Pieta House which supports schools in creating healthy, inclusive school environments that support mental wellbeing, something that has never been more important than now! Unfortunately, school closures back in March meant we were unable to complete the process. But thanks to our wonderful Wellbeing Committee, made up of Ms. Delaney, Ms, Moroney, Ms. Smith, Ms. Coffey and Ms. O’Leary as well as a group of our pupils, we were able to continue working towards our goal once school reopened and I am very proud to announce that we have now been awarded the Amber flag for our school.
The Friday before Midterm Break, we ran a ‘Crazy Hair’ fundraiser for Pieta House. Our pupils and staff made a huge effort with their creative and wacky hairstyles and, thanks to the generosity of the families of St. Martin de Porres NS, we managed to raise an impressive €1,158.80 for a very worthy cause. A huge thank you also to the daughter of one of our SNAs, Kayleigh of ‘Kayleigh’s Kakes’, who baked us a fabulous cake to raffle off amongst the staff as part of our fundraiser. It really was spooktacular!!
